1.1 Mapping

The original idea was to chart Reiatsu, or Reiryoku, but as the application evolved, the chart evolved towards a more general concept of Power. Power was mapped by creating a power function, with a minimum and maximum range, and assigning the Shinigami classes along its axis.

1.1 Redistribution

By the time the application had gotten to the Arrancar arc, most of the Hollow class values had been distributed based on whom in a battle had the upper-hand. It was not until "the problem" arrived (Ulquiorra), that the these values were mapped. Once the Average Power P_E of the Espada were mapped, it was divided among their total number of Fracción |F| resulting in the Average Power of the Fracción P_F. Finally, all Power values were redistributed to match the Shinigami and Hollow tables.

1.3 Controversy

Several literary devices were used by Tite Kubo to make the readers second guess which Espada were strongest. This chart will settle for Ulquiorra's Segunda Etapa being the strongest, which will be based on the reason that Ichigo is the Protagonist. Had Coyote's story been that he split in two "Because his body could not handle the Reiatsu", then he would without question been granted 3,000+ Power, assuming that 3,000 was the capacity of his Soul, and that Lilynette was the superfluous Reiatsu beyond said capacity.

2.1 Types

Excluding Hell, and Hellbeasts, there are 3 known Soul Types in Bleach: Shinigami, Hollow, and Human, where the latter has 2 subcategories, Fullbringer and Quincy. This classification likely stems from there being 3 known Spheres: Soul Society, Hueco Mundo, and the World of The Living. However, one can argue that Tite Kubo always intended for Soul Types, where Fullbringer is just another name for a Human with Power. The distinction between Human and Quincy is clarified in "Everything But The Rain" by Kisuke Urahara, and the TYBW anime makes an even better distinction when illustrating all Soul Types flowing into Ichigo in the Irazu Sando.

2.2 Chart

It is presumed that the color palette of these Soul Types are what makes up Ichigo's Black Bankai and Soul King's Reiatsu. In the context of our chart, this implies that the Soul King, and potentially Ichigo, has a Power capacity of 3,000 × 4 Soul Types. Sosuke, can in theory be said to originally have had 3,000 Power, the maximum capacity of his Shinigami Soul, and that he reached somewhere between 3,001 Power and 6,000 Power when he fused with the Hogyoku. It is hence implied that 3,000, 6,000, 9,000, and 12,000 Power, are "new dimensions" of power, as Sosuke put it.

2.3 Important

Reiatsu and Reiryoku is not the same, nor should be it confused with Power. This is but an explanation of the thought process behind creating this chart, where 3,000 Power is a randomly chosen number that allows our chart to illustrate power without exceeding values in the millionth.

2.4 Inaccuracies

The chart will show tremendous fluctuations in Power per Soul. This is because whenever a Character's Power is updated, a Total Power is set, followed by percentages: 25% Human + 25% Shinigami + 25% Hollow + 25% Quincy, which is quicker than calculating it all manually.

3.1 Introduction

A significant theme of Bleach is Duality. The name "Bleach" was chosen to ambiguously reflect this. As early as Chapter 1, we are introduced to the idea that a Soul can be Plus (+) or Minus (-), where a Human Soul is the former, and a Hollow Soul is the latter. The term Hollow is not just in reference to the physical hole in their chests, but the abstract hole in their state of mind and being, constantly feeling empty inside, and desperately desiring to fill that void. Because of this, souls that are Hollow (-) try to quench this hunger by consuming souls that are typically Whole (+).

However, there isn't just two types of souls in Bleach, Human and Hollow. There are four, including Shinigami and Quincy. In "Everything but The Rain" we are told that Shinigami and Quincy are opposites, like how Human and Hollow are opposites. Additionally, we are told that Hollows are "toxic" to Quincy, but from which we can only deduce the implications through Quilge Opie's Holy Form and Masaki Kurosaki's Hollowfication.

3.2 Preposition

When Rukia offered to give some of her powers to Ichigo so that he could protect his family, neither of them were prepared for Ichigo unintentionally taking all her powers, leaving her helpless. To transfer power from a Shinigami to a Human, a Zanpakuto is required to pierce the Human's heart. To maintain a consistent theme, there should be an opposite in the dual relationship of Quincy and Hollow, but where fangs and claws are used instead of a Zanpakuto. After all, an Arrancar's Resurreccion is but a type of Zanpakuto. What if, Hollows are not toxic to Quincy per se, but absorb them through a natural symbiotic flow of power, like in the case with Ichigo and Rukia.

This thesis can be extrapolated upon by looking at how Shinigami Lieutenants and Captains must limit their powers with Gentei Rein when entering the Human World to reduce their influence on Human souls. Furthermore, Ichigo's friends have an increased awareness and can survive in the presence of Aizen's overwhelming Reiatsu, presumably because Ichigo's Reiatsu have influenced them over time, implying that they have grown stronger than regular humans merely by being in his presence.

If this is true, then Shinigami powers flow naturally into Human souls, and Quincy powers flow naturally into Hollow souls.

Furthermore, this gives insight into how Shinigami grow stronger fighting Hollow, and how Quincy grow stronger merely by living in the Human World, near Humans. Additionally, why the Shinigami considers it a Grave Offense to share their power with Humans. It may also explain why Gemischt Quincy are treated like an expendable Warrior Class, being that they are a mixture of Human and Quincy, perhaps having twice the power potential, and why Quilge Opie considers Uryu's Heilig Pfeil stronger than his own.

3.3 Implications

What this means, is that Hollows would not grow stronger from consuming "any" Soul, like we are led to believe, but from consuming Quincy specifically, or traces of them thereof, such as when a Hollow eats another Hollow that has previously eaten a Quincy. This opens for re-exploration of what happened to the Quincy in the past, as well as reinterpretation of what happened to Grimmjow's Fraccíon.

It has become custom to believe that all of Grimmjow's followers stopped evolving as a result of having been maimed by Grimmjow or other Hollows. However, there is only proof that Di Roy got injured. Nothing suggests that any of the others had been injured, by anyone. There is also no way of telling when Grimmjow came upon his followers, nor when they decided to give up on becoming Vasto Lorde. This could have happened at any time, over 1 year ago, or 200 years ago.

A dramatic event happened 200 years ago. The Shinigami committed genocide on the Quincy in the Human World, ending the natural flow of Quincy between the Spheres, thus stopping the natural flow of Quincy souls and Power into Hueco Mundo. Now, too many facts are missing to continue with a thesis on the following, but the Quincy Massacre could have been a key component in the creation of the Hogyoku and White as well.

Tenteikura.com was created as a passion project for programming, as well as for Bleach. There was a desire to create an animated graph, and to map power for characters in Bleach. The audio visualizer was an additional curiosity project that was added later.
